Reporters reminded Arthur Baghdasaryan of Edward Sharmazanov’s observation that the opposition could not get united so they would not be able to win. “There are “unifications” and there are still going to be,” Arthur Baghdasaryan stated. He promised to give details of his answers during his coming meeting with journalists. Today he has presented his electoral program, speaking only about topics related to that.

CofL leader Arthur Baghdasaryan started his campaign with the presentation of his electoral program. The program is titled as Armenia, Open your Eyes, the main slogan being New Armenia, New Opportunities. Arthur Baghdasaryan emphasized the general ideas of the program contents presented in about 30 pages.

About 100 thousand vacancies for the upcoming 5 years – this is the promise of the chairman of CofL. He adds that he has clear visions and approaches to how they can ensure the jobs. The second provision is about the professional army. The CofL president’s victory in presidential elections will mean that the model of contract-based military service will be introduced in Armenia for the coming 5 years.

The next provision emphasized by Arthur Baghdasaryan in his platform, is the implementation of the national housing program. State construction program instead of elite construction – this is the approach of the CofL chairman that will suggest launching mortgage funds and developing the mortgage market.

Decreasing taxes and dues – this is the next emphasize of the candidate of CofL. He reminds of the international practice where decreasing taxes can help increasing the budget income.

A number of assessments of situation were given in relation with the electoral approaches. The Armenian economic system is not free and fair, just as the contents of the authorities. The economic freedoms have reached an impasse. Power in Armenia is about money and privileges.

In case Arthur Baghdasaryan is elected, a number of national/strategic programs will be worked out – Armenia without poverty; Availability of apartments for everybody; Competitive and developed Armenia; Back to homeland, each of them destined to solve a certain issue.

In case his pre-election platforms are implemented, the expected results are not less attractive – based on competition criteria, Armenia will have its place among 50 leading countries of the world; will have a position conforming to the world criteria based on all the indicators of social security and human development; young families will be provided with apartments; emigration will be stopped within two years; the salaries of the state system employees will be increased twice…

The presentation of the pre-election program was being interrupted by the applause of party members and supporters gathered in the room. People were presented not only with the program brochure but also with a book titled as Arthur Baghdasaryan – a Portrait in the Context of Time that, as mentioned in the preface, “has no precedent in political literature” and is dedicated to “celebrated Armenian politician and state figure” Arthur Baghdasaryan.
