On July 24, the Heritage board session has decided that all the possible forms of collaboration and partnership with the Armenian National Congress will be discussed only after the platform and agenda-related documents of the Congress are passed.

At today’s press conference Heritage board chair Anahit Bakhshyan, Stepan Safaryan and Hovsep Khurshudyan explained that a lot of issues related to the launch of the Congress were not clear for them yet. Heritage expects getting the answers to the following questions in the near future: the Congress structure, make-up; will the Congress have a chairman, or not; how will the decisions be adopted; how will the internal relations be regulated; what kind of strategy will be conducted? Heritage considers that 3 issues raised today by the Congress are equally relevant for them. These are – disclosing the March 1 tragedy; the press freedom; releasing the prisoners. Heritage joins the offer to conduct a dialogue with the authorities as soon as they are implemented, as well as joins the demand to conduct extraordinary elections. However, as told by Stepan Safaryan, they are short-term issues, “Let’s assume that the tragedy of March 1 has been disclosed, the dialogue has happened, the problems have been sold. What will the Congress do afterwards? It is not right to get together only around short-term issues, although I welcome that initiative of the opposition.”
Heritage prefers joining the Congress after platform and strategy-related clarifications, whereas Hovsep Khurshudyan states that the Congress initiative group prefers getting together and working out the platform and the strategy afterwards.
