THE UPDATED VERSION OF THE MADRID DOCUMENT IS READY
OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs met in Krakow on July 25-26, in order to discuss the issues related to the preparation of the renovated version of the Madrid suggestions on regulating the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

American co-chair Matthew Bryza had told Liberty radio station that “As directed by our three presidents in their joint declaration of July 10, 2009, we prepared an updated version of the Madrid Document.”

After the Krakow meeting the OSCE co-chairs have expressed gratitude to Robert Kocharyan, the former president of Armenia, and Vardan Oskanyan, the former foreign minister, whose efforts helped lay the foundation for the Madrid Document.

“We have now moved beyond that document under Armenia’s current leaders, President Sargsyan and Foreign Minister Nalbandyan, who have helped elicit progress in tough but constructive negotiations over the past year,” Matthew Bryza has told Liberty.

OSCE co-chairs’ next visit to the region will take place in September. The head of NIS countries will meet in early October, in Kishinev. The Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents will probably meet in the framework of that event.
